What is the exhibit about?

A collaboration between South Asian Studies Institute, Dr. Satwinder Bains, Sikh Heritage Manitoba, and the Winnipeg Jets brings to you the story of We Are Hockey in Manitoba.

ਸਾਊਥ ਏਸ਼ੀਅਨ ਸਟੱਡੀਜ਼ ਇੰਸਟੀਚਿਊਟ, ਡਾ. ਸਤਵਿੰਦਰ ਬੈਂਸ, ਸਿੱਖ ਹੈਰੀਟੇਜ ਮੈਨੀਟੋਬਾ, ਅਤੇ ਵਿਨੀਪੈਗ ਜੈਟਸ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਮੈਨੀਟੋਬਾ ਵਿੱਚ “ਅਸੀਂ ਹਾਕੀ ਹਾਂ” ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ।

Focusing on the perspectives of individuals from diverse racial backgrounds, this exhibition questions the traditional notion of "Hockey as Canada's national sport," engaging with themes of decolonization, race, ethnicity, and the privilege and influence of settler communities.

Manitoba is fostering inclusivity in hockey by providing spaces and experiences for South Asian communities, emphasizing the benefits of a more inclusive sport to help grow the game.
