Sikh Heritage Month celebrations postponed

Based on the advice of public health officials, our team has decided to postpone all Sikh Heritage Month events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Matters of public health and safety are of utmost importance to Sikh Heritage Manitoba (SHM) and we advise all Manitobans to take precautions to ensure public safety. SHM had the following events planned for the month of April:

1.    Sikh Heritage Month launch at the Manitoba Legislature on April 1 featuring artist Prieeyya Kaur Kesh.
2.    A special screening of the film “Uproar” followed by a panel discussion on Quebec’s Bill-21.
3.    A collaborative effort with the World Sikh Organization of Canada to host Rana Ayyub to discuss the rise of nationalism in India.
4.    An intimate Q&A session with rapper Fateh Singh among other events.

Sikh Heritage Manitoba celebrates Sikh heritage throughout the year. We are hoping to reschedule these events at a later date when it is safe for Manitobans to do so. Throughout the month of April please keep an eye on all SHM social media platforms as we will be actively showcasing the resilience of our community in the face of this adversity. We aim to take care of our community in this arduous time and we will actively share information on resources as they become available to us. We would like to thank everyone involved for your continued support over the last year. We hope to celebrate with you soon, until then stay safe and in Chardi Kalla.

Sincerely,
Sikh Heritage Manitoba Board
