A conservative Indo-Canadian family in small-town British Columbia must come to terms with a devastating secret: three sisters were sexually abused by an older relative beginning in their childhood years. After remaining silent for nearly two and a half decades, the sisters finally decide to come forward—not only to protect other young relatives, but to set an example for their daughters as well.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion between Gurpreet Sehra and Noor Bhangu of Kohinoor Collective with members of the Punjabi Sikh community. Conversation will circle issues around gender inequality, intergenerational trauma, and lack of access/discussion around mental health. Bringing in panelists from diverse age groups and working within a range of cultural institutions, the panel will work to unpack critical issues in the community, while working to futureproof communal forms of gathering and conversation for younger generations.
The panel discussion will be held in both Punjabi and English. There will be no translation provided.
