Turban Day Celebration 2026
The Turban Day Celebration will take place on April 13, 2026, at 5:00 PM in the Rotunda of the Manitoba Legislative Building.
Hosted on behalf of The Honourable Minister Kennedy and MLA Diljeet Brar, the event highlights the turban as a powerful symbol of faith, identity, and equality for Sikh Canadians and people of Sikh heritage. This celebration invites participants to join in recognizing and honouring the cultural and spiritual significance of the turban, while also reaffirming our shared commitment to diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect within the community.
Manitoba proudly remains the only province in Canada to officially recognize April 13 as Turban Day, following the unanimous passage of Bill 227 – The Turban Day Act in 2022. This historic milestone was brought forward by MLA Diljeet Brar, the first turban-wearing MLA elected to the Manitoba Legislature.
Attendees are asked to RSVP to diljeet.brar@yourmanitoba.ca to confirm participation and ensure security clearance for entry to the Legislative Building.
